me & my fanfiction addiction

Yupps. This post is gonna be about... yes, me and fanfics. Mainly because I have found the need to let my readers understand what exactly are fanfics and what the hell I am obsessing about. HAHA. The answers are all in my own words. I'm not checking anything for this. (Except for the links I'm posting, of course.)

Firstly. What is a fanfiction?

Simply put, fiction written by fans. It can be about real life characters, comic characters, anime characters, etc, you get the drift.

What fanfiction do I write?

I write fanfics about real life characters, of which I try to shape them as canon as possible, unless the plot requires otherwise. (I prefer canon.) I would love to try my hand at fanfiction based on books, but... it would take quite a lot of research and all to stick to canon as must as possible. My current fics feature real life characters from Taiwanese boy group Lollipop. I am also writing KAT-TUN slash fics (at my shiny new LJ), featuring pairings within the group. ^^ I *heart* my OTP: Nakamaru Yuichi+Ueda Tatsuya, commonly known as MARUDA. THEY ARE LOVE. And I also support AKAKAME (Akanishi Jin+Kamenashi Kazuya). And lastly... my secret OTP... (NAKANISHI♥) *whistles*

What is canon, as I have just mentioned?

Please see Wiki article "Glossary of fan fiction terms" on Canon. Canon is actually just... the characters as they are, means their personality and all fit with the books from which they are based, or their real life personality. (In this case, I would say the projected image of their real life personality, for real life characters, bcause I don't think how they act in public is their real behaviour.)

And most of you would have seen me spazzing about HD. So what exactly is HD?

HD is also known as HPDM or DMHP or Drarry, which is the pairing of Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy. (The HD Fandom is gargantuan, I must say. And I love that fact. LOVE THE ART!!!) HD is slash. And I am and have been a big fan of slash since forever. Which brings me to the next point...

What is slash?

Slash is basically... male-male relationship. Homosexual/gay/call it whatever you like. Heterosexual relationships are simply referred to as het.

And about the HD Fandom?

Like I've said, the HD Fandom is gargantuan. There are millions and billions of fanfics out there that are about HD. (Therefore, no, I'm not only reading one thing. I'm reading many many many many many things. Because there simply are too many to read.)

What are ships?

Ships are pairings. I'm not sure how to explain that exactly, but I'm a Harry/Draco shipper. Does that make any sense? I hope it does. Lol. :X I also ship Albus Severus/Scorpius. :D

What is OTP?

One True Pair. :D My most beloved OTP is MARUDA. (Duh.) I LOVE THEM LIKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~~~ ^^ HAHA.

HD/ KT-fic ratings?

Well, it varies, but there are a lot of M-rated HD fics out there. (Not for gay haters, mind you.) Lemon, lime, or just smut in general are regular occurences in HD fics. (Lemon refers to explicit sex./ Lime refers to... umm... not so explicit sex? Or sometimes none at all, but has sexual themes. LOL.) Same goes for KT, actually. :D HAHA. Though I would say that HD's sexual themes are more... interesting. (Well, it's the Wizarding World, what do you expect?!)

Why is there that exclamation mark thingy in between words?

Let me give you a few examples: snarky!Draco, prissy!princessy!Draco, bottom!Harry, crack!fic. Well, if it isn't obvious enough, it shows the nature of the character or the fic. LOL.

My take on HD fics/ KT-fics/ fanfiction in general?

I like Canon! Canon is a MUST. Of course, unless I'm reading a crack!fic. I believe that HD is canon because of the subtext in the HP series. (If you are not sure what is subtext, click on this link to Fanlore's page on Subtext.) The most exciting thing about subtext is that it's an anagram for buttsex. HAHAHAHA.

That said, I personally do not like PWP (Porn Without Plot/ Plot? What plot?) fics, although many oneshots are PWP. And my favourite fics are usually EWE (Epilogue? What epilogue?), although recently I've started to find Epilogue-compliant fics quite a lot of love. So it really depends. And... Some of the best stories don't need any type of lemon to be fantastic. Lemon is just... an added incentive? LOL HAHAHA call me perverted or what. Anything. Well, if the author writes it well, then it is an added incentive. If the author can't write lemon scenes at all, then... it's more a torture than an incentive. (Or maybe that's just me.)

My favourite Draco is foodmolester!Draco & my favourite Harry is giggling!Harry :X LOL. I don't know why but I just find it super cute when Harry giggles. O.O HAHAHA. And as for Draco... That snarky prat is probably born a seductive man. So no complains when he treats his food like... Er-hm. Infer yourself. LOL. I love it when he eats ice cream. :X And I love it even more when Harry blushes when he sees Draco doing that. HHAHAHHAA. Auror!fics are also really fun. BOOOO. Never mind, only my beloved Mrs Ted aka Simin will understand HD love. HAHAHA.

Another of my pet peeves when I'm READING fanfics, is when the author keeps saying ORBS. LIKE WTF. EYES ARE NOT ORBS. I highly doubt Harry and Draco are ALIENS. And humans do not have ORBS in their eye sockets. -.- Seriously! And I absolutely hate it when they get the hair colours wrong. Draco has blond hair, and Harry has BLACK hair. Harry is NOT a brunette. At least, not when he is still in school. Geez. And Draco IS supposed to be taller than Harry. -.- GEEEZ. Of course, Draco has grey eyes and Harry has emerald/green ones. ^^ And did I mention I hate it when there are spelling errors in the characters' names or just spelling mistakes in general? Freaking irritating -.- LOL. Seriously! Gryffindor/ Slytherin/ Hufflepuff/ Ravenclaw/ McGonagall/ Zabini/ and I can't think of anything more. Those aren't that hard to spell, plus simple Googling would have given anyone the correct spelling. -.- Of course, I would like Draco to put his arms around Harry's waist, and not his waste. -.-

Oh, and although I like slash, I draw the line at incest. Gay or not, I just feel that incest is wrong. So... yeah. And... I don't really like MPREG (Male Pregnancy) unless... Well I can only accept it sometimes. But most of the time I think it's weird and... not possible. Okay, yes my favourite fandom (from books/movies) is the Harry Potter Fandom, of which my other ship is Teddy/Victoire :D Het but LOVE. (I like Ron/Hermione too but then it's quite normal.) I do not like, though that would be putting it mildly, Snarry (Snape/Harry) and Snaco (Snape/Draco). LIKE OMGWTF. Find someone your own age. ^^ Hahaha. OH OH OH! I just remembered one more ship. AS/S! Uh-huh. ASS. LOL. It actually stands for Albus Severus/Scorpius. I can only say they are made for each other. I mean, AS/S! xD (For the uninitiated, Albus Severus is Harry's son and Scorpius is Draco's.)

For my own fics, I tend to veer towards the Romantic Suspense genre, or at least try to, for my ACA series. I find real life characters easier to write about than characters from books, because for those characters most of their lives are already established, and for it to be canon, you really have to know them very very well. Plus, JK Rowling is such a genius that not many fic writers can do justice to the characters she created. If there's any reason why I won't write HD, then that would be it. :X

And on to KT fics. I'm actually new to writing KT fics... So... Yes, I'm finding out new things each day and all. And reading KT fics is actually a whole lot of fun and love too. :D I realize that KT brings out the fluff!writing side of me, because I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT write fluffy and happy one-shots. o.o That was, until I found KT. :D But anyways... So far I'm loving KT-fics. xD

I would think that's about all you need to know about me and my kind of fanfiction addiction. :D HAHAHA. Yeah. Because I know most people aren't too familiar with the world of fanfiction... And I'll practically die without it. ^^ FANFICTION FTW! :D And HD is such an important part of my life now. *FLAILS AND SPAZZES*

And thanks to Colour Ghost, I have found the most perfect spazzing emoticon EVER. THIS EMOTICON IS WIN!!! Ever since I found it, no other emoticon could express how I feel when I flail and spazz about HD. Or for that matter, anything else. LOL. I LOVE IT.
